When is the best time for a cycling holiday in Burgundy?

Like most of the french region, the period we recommend for you cycling holidays in Burgundy, is spring, the end of the summer and early autumn for the mild climate and seasonal tourism. If you agree temperatures a bit higher, summer season is as well highly recommended for peaceful cycling tours, as Burgundy is not the most busy region in summer.

Do we have to plan our cycling holidays in Burgundy in advance?

Most of our cycling trips are itinerants. You ride between hotels and guest houses. So we have to book several accommodations for one stay. As France is a very attractive and busy destination, and in order to put the odds in your favour and ensure accomodations availabilities, we recommend to book your bike trip in Burgundy as early as possible. Likewise for family cycling holidays as family room (for 3 or 4 people) are rare.

What are physical conditions required to visit Burgundy by bike?

The stages of our bike tours in Burgundy are not very hilly and quite short, however to fulfill the whole tour of 4 or 5 consecutive days cycling, it would be recommended to practice cycling during the year. No need to be an expert, but regular short bike rides will be welcome to appreciate all the routes, especially in the Burgundy hinterland.
