Cycling in Burgundy
Cycling in Burgundy through its famous vineyards, from Dijon to Mâcon. On the program: Côte and Haut Côte de Beaune, Grands Crus, the magnificent Hospices de Beaune, listed natural and cultural sites and peaceful cycling routes!
This cycling trip will take you through the different terroirs of Burgundy, from north to south to the Mâconnais region, on cycle paths, small country roads in the heart of vineyards, through colorful fields and along canals.
First of all, Dijon, the capital of Burgundy with its diverse architectural styles, from Gothic to Art Deco, where you will be given your travel guide and bikes. You’ll stay in Beaune, an elegant fortified town, pass through the famous villages of Pommard, Meursault, Puligny Montrachet… among others! in a beautiful setting of man-made vineyards. Further south, the itinerary encounters a more diverse landscape of canals and forests, and becomes more undulating as you approach Cluny, a town famous for its Benedictine abbey and stud farm (once one of France’s national stud farms).
Finally, the voie verte takes you through the Val Lamartinien to the singular “Bois Clair Tunnel”, the longest tunnel on a greenway and fully illuminated. With its landscapes dominated by the Solutré, Vergisson and Mont-Pouilly rocks, classified as “Grand Site de France”, you’ll pass through the vineyards and villages of the Mâconnais region. You’ll finish this Burgundy bike tour in Mâcon, on the banks of the Saône.
You’ll be welcomed every evening in charming hotels and bed & breakfasts, where you can enjoy local cuisine and fine wines.
You'll enjoy :
- The Burgundy Grands Crus cycle route and its classified vineyard landscapes in Côte d’Or
- The rolling landscapes of Saône et Loire
- Cluny Abbey and National Stud
- The town of Beaune and its hospices
