Your stay

Explore traditional Alsace on a cycling vacation through vineyards and villages

Discover the picturesque, traditional Alsace of postcards, as well as the more unusual, lesser-known Alsace. On this tour, you’ll discover Romanesque, Gothic and Baroque architecture, art treasures in museums, the forests of the Vosges, the peat bogs of the Ried and vineyards sparkling in the sunshine. The warm welcome of the Alsatians, the liveliness of their traditions, the generosity of their gastronomy (authentic, refined and prestigious), and the distinctive palette of aromas of Alsatian wines, make up the portrait of a place in France where life is good, and which we invite you to discover during your cycling vacation. Cycling between Bas-Rhin and Haut-Rhin.

First of all, Strasbourg. Take advantage of your visit to this historic city to stroll along its many canals, notably in the “Petite France” district, the cathedral district and the area around the European Parliament. Then head south into the Alsace plain, a vast plain between the Vosges mountains and the Rhine. Discover the Ried peat bogs, rich in aquatic flora and fauna.

Your route will take you to Selestat and then Colmar, City of Art and Alsace Wine Capital. Don’t miss the picturesque district of “Little Venice”. You then enter the wine-growing area, with the Ballon d’Alsace as your backdrop, the highest point in the Vosges mountains, which you’ll pass on the following days as you head due north along the wine route. Let yourself be guided by this superb bike route through the vineyards, nestled at the foot of the Vosges mountains and dotted with many charming villages. It’s a real invitation to taste Alsace’s distinctive white wines, at the turn of a bar or winery, and to enjoy the local gastronomy, with its delicious little dishes (!) and pastries that will delight your taste buds! Gubwiller, Riquewih and Mittelbergehim are just a few of the villages you’ll pass through, which are among the most beautiful in France.

You’ll reach Obernai, a superb traditional village with half-timbered houses, colorful facades and flower-filled balconies, before ending your cycling trip with a final leg along the Bruche canal to Strasbourg.

You'll enjoy :

  • Strasbourg, the European Parliament and the adorable “Petite France” district
  • Picturesque villages with colorful half-timbered houses and flowers
  • The traditional villages of the Ried on the banks of the Rhine in the Alsace plain
  • The charming wine route along the Vosges mountains
  • Colmar and its narrow streets lined with medieval buildings
